Books to help depression?

#1

As you may have seen, I finished reading my most recent book, Walls’ “Heaven”. Can anyone recommend any books for helping someone to appreciate his life? Sorry if the question makes me sound ungrateful to God. Believe me, I thank the Lord for his blessings throughout the day. But I still have depression. Any book recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Books may or may not help here. But if I want to read books, to inspire me. Well, look at:

  • The Story of Philosophy by William Durant

  • Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

  • As a Man Thinkest by James Allen

  • The Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton

  • The Essential Rumi by Jalal al-Din Rumi and John Moyne

  • Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values by Robert M Pirsig

  • Zen and the Art of Happiness by Chris Prentiss

And of course, any copy of the Bible…ESV, NIV, NLT, NKJV or KJV

In the US, these can be obtained…via the US public library systerm…and perhaps the same, in other countries.

Regarding depression (and anxiety), remember to check your health. For example, might you have obstructive sleep apnea?

A book that really helped me start to relax was Grace Walk, by Dr. Steve McVey.

Feeling Good by David Burns.
