Favorite Christmas Lyrics

Thanks for posting this one from Simply Three. I’d not heard of them. Very energetic and skilled playing.
You know, I often wonder what reaction Hayden, Bach & Scarlatti, et.al. would have toward our modern interpretations of “Classical” music. Several rock stars are now composing classical music. A recent one was Kip Winger under the name C.F. Kip Winger. It’s a *really *good 'un. I don’t know, of course, but I think any of the Bach’s would like Deep Purple.

Thanks for posting the Rob Halford video :exclamation: Quite a departure from ‘Breaking the Law’

I think accomplished musicians welcome changes and new versions of their work, as long as the rights issues are looked after :open_mouth:

DaveB… I was listening to NPR last night and apparently, the tuba Christmas is a big thing across the country :exclamation: Ya never can tell

And finally, we have come to the blessed day.

Away in a manger

There are a couple of different melodies to this song. It was originally thought to have been penned by Luther himself. That is in question, but the song tells of a child, being born in the most humble of circumstances. The messiah being born in a shed, and going through life, and ultimately going to the cross because of love.

Merry Christmas everyone.

So there they are. Some favorite Christmas lyrics.

But just like an angel from the Christmas story, God sent me one last song to share with you all. My wife and I heard it for the first time yesterday going to our daughters home. We were listening to Christmas music on the radio and we knew who it was within the first line of singing.

And it just so happens it is from one of our favorite singers. Michael Johnson

We were truly blessed.

I pray that each of you keep the love of Christmas in your heart for the whole new year.

Upon A Christmas Eve
By Hugh Prestwood

I walked out on Christmas Eve to see the city lights
Up and down the avenue, I marveled at the sights
Flung out diamonds, strung out pearls, shimmered in the cold
While dark skyscrapers stood their watch on windows dressed in gold

And like a wise man chasing stars, I looked for a child
One asleep inside of me who Christmas once beguiled
Through the falling snow I tracked a fading memory
Until decked out in ragged clothes, an angel came to me

She smiled and said the one you’ve lost is easy to retrieve
All you need to bring him home is something to believe
Then a thousand bells rang out announcing Christmas morn
And at that moment I did feel the child in me reborn

So fill your heart with love tonight and wear it on your sleeve
For all good things are possible upon a Christmas Eve
For all good things are possible upon a Christmas Eve

Once again, not sure who made the video.

Excellent! Christmas kinda ‘got past’ me this year - I’ll try to remember these lyrics as the next one approaches.

Ahhh, Such good lyrics. My thanks to the Coincidence of Angels, and to you for following through.

It inspired my muse to bring me this:

*It will be through your deeds,

And through your every word,

That the Forever Child in your heart,

Is forever understood.*

“Can we have just one more like this? A song from the days when Jesus was called the first hippie?” I asked her.

Okay. Just one more.

I wonder if this Christmas they’ll begin to understand
The Jesus that they celebrate is much more than a man.
'Cause the way the world is I don’t see how people can deny
The only way to save us was for Jesus Christ to die.

And I know that if St. Nicholas was here he would agree
That Jesus gave the greatest gift of all to you and me.
They led him to the slaughter on a hill called Calvary,
And mankind was forgiven when they nailed him to the tree.

But most of all the children they’re the ones I hope will learn
That Jesus is our savior and he’s going to return.
And Christmas isn’t just a day and all days aren’t the same,
Perhaps they’ll think about the word and see it spells his name

And I know that if St. Nicholas was here he would agree
That Jesus gave the greatest gift of all to you and me.
They led him to the slaughter on a hill called Calvary,
And mankind was forgiven, mankind was forgiven,
We were all forgiven when they nailed him to the tree.

So, Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.
Hoo-hoo. Ooo-ooh.

I wonder if this Christmas they’ll begin to understand?

Thanks Eleutheros :exclamation:
