I talk about hat so called “God part of the brain.” That was a misnomer because the parts that are correlated with religious activity are spread out through a couple of regions.
I’ve heard him say that too.
i gaurentee you if you meditate properly you will benefit greatly, maybe this will help out a bit How to meditate properly
Over the years I have meditated conscientiously for periods up to a year. I mostly used dr Bensons Relaxation Response & another TM style method sans the mantra. Unfortunately I have always had to give it up as it caused greater & greater depersonalisation and/or Derealisation. I decided that meditation by a Bipolar person may not convey the usual benefits but in fact can trigger negative symptoms.
Tim just reported yesterday evening, that he noticed Joe’s book was #2 on Amazon’s Hot New Books list for the “Psychology and Religion” category!
Considering how that category tends to be anti-religious, that’s especially great!
I am not an expert on meditation. I did not write this book as a self help or “how to” book on getting mystical experience. What I have come across in the research is (1) there is anxiety and other problems connected with TM. (2) those problems may be short term. (3) for my personal belief I would pray and seek God and seek being born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit before meditating. I don’t think meditation is letting demons in or anything, I would just do it that way because that’s what I know from my own case.
that was great to hear. After the first week Tim said we only sold five books. I knew three were bought by my nieces. so I said “got to get more nieces.”
I don’t know how many we sold now but it must be some more.
Well, you’re currently at rank #325,000ish on Amazon, so you’re ten times higher up the list than I am!
I am feeling like Cindy a bit… This is way above my head… It is hard to quantify mystical experiences.
does mean it’s sold any?
Every time a copy is sold (even if it’s through the independent sellers or resellers) the rank resets up to the maximum possible for the total number of units sold. The highest I’ve ever seen mine was around #6500, briefly; it quickly cycles back down again, because the rank is also partly based on rate-of-sell (and also on the total number of titles individually available in the marketplace).
That’s the overall rank, mind, compared to ALL OTHER BOOKS bought at Amazon. Your rank in more specified categories will be higher, which is how you got to #2 in “Psychology and Religion” (at least temporarily).
Right this moment you’re at #37 in the “psychology” section of “religion”, and #85,923 out of at least 3.5 million titles. So you’re in the top 2 percent of total sales so far. (Whereas I’m in the bottom 2 percent right now. )
In concrete numbers that means you sold a book or two over the weekend.
great. unfortunately I just learned my niece bought 2 over the weekend! I really do need to get more nieces.
This is not an update on the book or even the book tour, so much as it’s an update on why there hasn’t been more of the booktour yet.
Joe has suffered for years from chronic infection of his legs, and finally had to be hospitalized for it last week. That’s the “foot infection” Tim was talking about. He may be able to go home today if they’re able to put a port in his arm for intravenous antibiotics for another four weeks of treatments.
If anyone’s passing through, please pray for him. He lost his brother only a few weeks ago, too.
Poor guy! Will be praying for him.
Update from Tim (snipping a paragraph about soccer):
Joe was almost back in the hospital this week but the nurse had been given permission by the doctor to use her own judgement and she thought the infection looked better (he’s had a chronic leg infection for at least 8 years now, maybe longer.)
Meanwhile, here’s the podcast interview link!
Joe has recently gone back into the hospital with KIDNEY SHUTDOWN!
This is a potentially fatal situation – typically once someone’s kidneys shut down death follows soon afterward. In Joe’s case, they shut down (apparently) as a result of the super-antibiotic with which they’ve been trying to treat his chronic leg/blood infection; so the doctor has some hope of being able to restart his kidneys.

I’ll be adding a prayer notice in our category for that, too.
For consolidation sake, I’ll be posting news about Joe’s health over in this prayer thread on our forum as I get it.
