The Evangelical Universalist Forum

Lurking traditional Christian forums could be unhealthy?

Thanks for the welcome, Johnny.

Don’t misunderstand me, I do value the work that others have put in to the study of UR, its just sometimes it is technical.

Most posters I’ve seen on the other forum simply blast a whole bunch of verses but won’t engage in a discussion about how it fits in with other concepts like God being a good, loving daddy and how justice is compromised by an eternal punishment. I tend to write responses that don’t just blast verses back and forth, but seek to show that their view isn’t consistent with other things we know about God. Hopefully, someone reading the threads later will pick up on what I’m saying and give them pause for thought.

I do like your summary - “God is love, and love never fails”. Simple, subtle yet profound.

Mike

i’ve never lurked other theological type forums. i always just assumed i’d disagree with them, or they’d disagree with me, and i didn’t need that stress. i felt capable of doing my own seeking, and that took other forms. i have been on Christian forums of other kinds (musical), but the people were quite open to speculation, though even i didn’t know Universalism was a valid option at the time…but there was some speculation about the scope of salvation, and how it might affect those who’ve never heard (the consensus appeared to be that until they heard about Christ, they were under the old covenant…which led me to the question of why would it not be better to leave them under the old covenant that didn’t involve such strict adherence to a specific creed?).
through that i did actually go to a forum to troll them…but i reckon they were all trolls taking the pi- …er mick anyway, as one of them who kept telling us we were evil or damned was going on about a “ministry to prostitutes” that somehow involved him taking them home with him…HMMM. methought i smelt the pungent stench of an under-bridge dweller!
