Quote for today

“It’s a new day! Let go of old issues, relationships, or apprehensions that are holding you back. Decide to move forward using the knowledge you’ve gained, from your failures and triumphs, while making room for new accomplishments. Cleaning isn’t just good for your house, it’s healthy for your mind. Adopt the attitude that you can and will achieve your dreams, because it’s true. You have greatness within you!”

– Les Brown

“Kind hearts are the gardens, kind thoughts are the roots, kind words are the flowers, kind deeds are the fruits. Take care of your garden and keep out the weeds, fill it with sunshine, kind words, and kind deeds.”-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“It’s not about us inviting Jesus into our hearts. It’s about us coming to see that He’s already included us in His.”

God’s mercy doesn’t expire when you do!

“Work hard, don’t quit, be appreciative, be thankful, be grateful, be respectful, also to never whine ever, never complain, and, always, for crying out loud, keep a sense of humor.”-- Michael Keaton

One may, moreover, find this same conflict in us, for man is set before competitors as the prize of their contest. He makes the one with whom he sides the victor over the other. 21 The fight of the Egyptian against the Hebrew is like the fight of idolatry against true religion, of licentiousness against self‐ control, of injustice against righteousness, of arrogance against humility, and of everything against what is perceived by its opposite. 22 15. Moses teaches us by his own example to take our stand with virtue as with a kinsman and to kill virtue’s adversary. The victory of true religion is the death and destruction of idolatry. So also injustice is killed by righteousness and arrogance is slain by humility. St. Gregory

Utter extravagance is the theme of our Father’s mighty Plan for the mass of sinners broken and bruised by sin.

“This, in a nutshell, is that will: that everything handed over to me by the Father be completed - not a single detail missed - and at the wrap-up of time I have everything and everyone put together, upright and whole. This is what my Father wants: that anyone who sees the Son and trusts who he is and what he does and then aligns with him will enter real life, eternal life. My part is to put them on their feet alive and whole at the completion of time.” -Jesus, the Christ-

Every mouth in confession, every knee bowing IN the Name of Jesus…"You are Lord!"

“Don’t ever forget that you’re a citizen of this world, and there are things you can do to lift the human spirit, things that are easy, things that are free, things that you can do every day: civility, respect, kindness, character.”-- Aaron Sorkin

Simone Weil said in The Need for Roots , “to be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the human soul . . . Every human being needs to have multiple roots. It is necessary for him to draw well nigh the whole of his moral, intellectual, and spiritual life by way of the environment of which he forms a natural part.” I see rootedness as something due to every human being, as part of their human dignity. Without it, man is cut off from the very elements that make him who he is.

“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”-- Native American Proverb

“Christianity has from its beginning portrayed itself as a gospel of peace, a way of reconciliation (with God, with other creatures), and a new model of human community, offering the ‘peace which passes understanding’ to a world enmeshed in sin and violence. (1)”

I see everything is worship of God as long as we can be conscious of our thinking, acting and doing anchored in our Being. It is our perception of doership that fuels the illusion of separation from God, and eventual crowding of temples and churches, mosques and synagogues. All these institutions thrive for the simple reason that we don’t recognize God in our very existence, in our Being. I have no idea how many so far saw God in temples or Churches? But I know the realized ones found God in the temple of the body-mind.

“Why escape your intended purpose by copying and trying to be someone else? You will discover who you were meant to be only after you have shown confidence being yourself.”-- Suzy Kassem

“How could the Bible possibly speak of the perfect victory of God our Creator who loves righteousness and cannot bear evil, if that victory really means that He cannot bring His own creatures at last to hate evil as He hates it, but must confirm multitudes, indeed the majority of them, in their choice of evil for ever and ever?.. What sort of victory is it to be able only to subdue evil and prevent it harming any but those who choose it, and to be unable to bring human souls to abominate it and desire to forsake it, so that the evil itself ceases to exist?” –Hannah Hurnard-

“When religion is in the hands of the mere natural man, he is always the worse for it; it adds a bad heat to his own dark fire and helps to inflame his four elements of selfishness, envy, pride, and wrath. And hence it is the worst passions, or a worse degree of them are to be found in persons of great religious zeal than in others that made no pretenses to it. History also furnishes us with instances of persons of great piety and devotion who have fallen into great delusions and deceived both themselves and others. The occasion of their fall was this…They considered their whole nature as the subject of religion and divine graces; and therefore their religion was according to the workings of their whole nature, and the old man was as busy and as much delighted in it as the new.” -Wm. Law (Christian Regeneration)-

“To say it again, eternal life is less about a kind of time that starts when we die, and more about a quality and vitality of life now in connection to God. Eternal life doesn’t start when we die; it starts now. It’s not about a life that begins at death; it’s about experiencing the kind of life now that can endure and survive even death.” - Rob Bell (Love Wins)-

“You cannot go outside of A and Z in the realm of literature; likewise Christ Jesus is First and Last of God’s new creation, and all that is in between; you cannot get outside of that.” -Theodore Austin-Sparks-

God’s being the creator of our world does not make God different than he would otherwise be (unless we buy into God’s being finite, temporal, and mutable). It does, of course, make a real difference to us. http://thomasmcothran.com/

“People will always have their opinions. Only you know who you really are. Focus on living authentically and honestly, have integrity in all that you do, and those opinions won’t matter.”-- Prince

There is a common phrase in Orthodoxy, or at least in the English speaking Orthodox world: We know where the Church is, but we don’t know where the Church isn’t.
