The Evangelical Universalist Forum

So what "do" you tell them?

Well, they need to first know I am a universalist.

I asked them if they are willing to be open minded and do a bible study with me and I then them first the Gospel of Grace which sets us free from the Law of Moses and more specifically, we are gentiles not even under their Law. Then I show them that as Gentiles we are grafted in by Faith of Christ and then show them that all sin of those Under the Law is gone in Christ. Then I show them if those under the Law are forgiven, how much are those who were never under the Law forgiven for that which there is no law against? Then I share the love of Christ and show them everywhere in Scripture (100+) where all are promised salvation and then demonstrating that God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent in all things, show them when God makes a promise He never fails.

Even then, they are the ones who have to insist on getting to know what I believe, otherwise it is just a waste of my time to share knowledge they are not wanting to hear.

Proverbs 1:7
The reverence of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 8:12
ā€œI, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion.

Well looking back I must admit that my comment wasnā€™t really to the point of the OP. Sorry
Unfortunately I havenā€™t even known about UR long enough to get into any conversations where the idea of UR was even questioned.
However, the conversation that came of it made me start thinking about the law. I found something interesting in Ephesians that Iā€™ll post in Biblical Theology.

This seems appropriate hereā€¦

**Nineteenth-century Universalist leader Hosea Ballou was riding the circuit in the New Hampshire hills with a Baptist preacher one afternoon. They argued theology as they traveled. At one point, the Baptist looked over and said, ā€œBrother Ballou, if I were a Universalist and feared not the fires of hell, I could hit you over the head, steal your horse and saddle, and ride away, and Iā€™d still go to heaven.ā€ Hosea Ballou looked over at him and said, ā€œIf you were a Universalist, the idea would never occur to you.ā€
