The advent is approaching:

My late father celebrated Christmas like no-one else I ever knew. He was a Pentecostal pastor and Christmas always started early and lasted long. It was wonderful. At this time of year I miss him deeply but I should be grateful that it is not a son or daughter who I miss. May God bless those who have suffered great loss at this time of year. He particularly loved Harold Darke’s version of this wonderful carol but I cannot listen to it very easily these days. I commend it to you all:
This is my prayer for 2014:
That is probably my all time favorite worship song. It is so sweet.
Do you ever have a tune and words come to you when you are reading a passage of scripture that especially touches you? This happens to me every once in a while. Here is a song for Philippians 2:5-11
THE MIND OF CHRIST
(Tune: Jesus Lover of My Soul)
Let in you be the same mind
Which in Jesus Christ we find,
Who, though fullest Deity,
Did not seek equality,
But He emptied Himself to save,
Having taken the form of a slave.
Born like to sinful men,
He obeyed to death’s last pain.
After this great deed of Love,
God exalted Him above.
Highest name is “Jesus” now
At which every knee shall bow.
And shall every tongue confess:
“Jesus Christ is Lord”—no less!
So, Beloved, now obey
Even as you have alway.
Very nice Paidion! It’s so cool when Father gives you a song like that.
Good stuff!
gorgeous.
I love that song, John!
Brings back lots of wonderful memories for me as a teenager and a new Christian.
I have to say though, when I saw Peter Jackson’s LOTR movie the first time, what popped into my mind when seeing his elves was “The 2nd Chapter of Acts.”
Good to have you posting again and hope to see more of you!
P.S. I love Keith Green’s version of the song, too.
Beautiful Easter songs, John.
Happy Easter to you and all here!
