A worthy theology

I began reading Roger Olson’s book “Against Calvinism” today, and came across a sentence he wrote that I thought worth mentioning. He writes:

“Someone has said that no theology is worth believing that cannot be preached standing in front of the gates of Auschwitz”

I know Mr. Olson has always fought against Calvinism, especially the new flavor that has gained a foothold in recent years and its emphasis on meticulous control, and I have always enjoyed the books of his that I read. However, knowing where he probably stands on ECT/Anni/UR, his own quote could be pointed right back at him. I would be very pleased to see him take his own thoughts further to see if his own theology could withstand the same scrutiny.

Indeed: is a theology that God couldn’t save the souls in Auschwitz (whether captive or oppressor!) worth believing?

Of course, the fellow I saw online earlier this morning who told a Jewish man that the Creator was going to come back and wipe out the Jews for fist-bleeping the world and oppressing the “Israelites”, would have had no problem standing in front of Auschwitz preaching that ‘gospel’. :unamused: But I applaud RO’s sentiment.
