Anyone heard this song!
Hi nimblewill,
Had not heard it before but it is a great message ‘It’s already done.’
I’m sure we all agree that Jesus’ part in the salvation of the world is already done.
But we have a part in our salvation. We must coöperate with his enabling grace to save us from sin.
We cannot do it alone, and God won’t do it alone, but together, it can be accomplished!
It’s not that we are covered by the blood of Christ, and can thus get off scott free. Rather it’s that through Christ’s death, we can receive the enabling grace to live righteously and overcome wrongdoing.
We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. (2 Corinthians 6:)
If we attempt to receive a “grace” that will merely get us off the hook and escape the consequences of our sin, we will have received that “grace” in vain. But if we coöperate with the grace of God, we will be able to live righteously and overcome wrongdoing, and thus be pleasing to God.
Paul wrote to Titus:
For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all people, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and to live sensible, righteous, and devout lives in the present age, expecting the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good works. Declare these things; encourage and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you. (Titus 2:11-15)
Thoroughly agreed, Paidion.
