Ed Babinski On Eternal Punishment

Given headaches, backaches, toothaches, strains, scrapes, breaks, cuts, rashes, burns, bruises, PMS, fatigue, hunger, odors, molds, colds, yeast, parasites, viruses, cancers, genetic defects, blindness, deafness, paralysis, mental illness, ugliness, ignorance, miscommunications, embarrassments, unrequited love, dashed hopes, boredom, hard labor, repetitious labor, accidents, old age, senility, fires, floods, earthquakes, typhoons, tornadoes, hurricanes and volcanoes, I can not see how anyone, after they are dead, deserves “eternal punishment” as well. --Ed Babinski

I don’t know anything about Ed Babinski but he makes a good point.

He’s a hyper-anti-Christian apologist, mostly internet based (like myself) – any stick is good enough to beat Christianity with. Claims to be agnostic, or even fideistic, and maybe he really does think he is, but after reading hundreds of comments of his over the years in various forums, I’ve noticed that he never argues against atheism, even hardcore sceptical New Atheists or Jesus Myth proponents.

He can take a position in a tower between two sides of the city and claim to be neutral, but if he’s constantly wearing the colors of one side and constantly sniping only the people wearing colors on the other side, I take the position that he’s on one side and not the other.

(To be fair, I haven’t much been around where he’s been around in the past few years, so maybe he’s doing something different now. But this quote is quite typical of his previously being morbidly impressed with anti-theistic arguments from suffering.)

Michael, Of course you cant see it…You are not GOD ALMIGHTY

“Man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward” - Job
Just cuz Babinski is probably an atheist doesn’t mean he is isn’t right occasionally. When I see the miserable lives in third world countries with the poverty and the starvation and the sanitary conditions, I wonder how smug middle class american churchgoers think these people deserve their torment to continue forever.

bingo!

True Christians send food, money and aid to the world abroad through our tithes, missionary work and gracious giving. How much do you give? And be honest for God knows your hearts.

gosh, you really know your stuff

the name is a reference to Tolkein, who you’d read if you had any wisdom. Tolkein helped Lewis come back to God.
snakes…well God made snakes. i like snakes. some people like dogs (me too). some people like cats (also). i happen to also like reptiles, and i don’t appreciate your attempt at a personal insult here.
also, a point of fact, oh most wise and knowledgeable disciple, is that Malaysian blood pythons don’t live in holes. they live on rice paddies mostly submerged. i take any insult aimed at one of God’s creatures personally, as you should as well.
so basically, you’ve just displayed your overwhelming ignorance yet again.

speaking of living in dark places…how is the view from under your bridge?

I don’t know if TD can read this or not but I’ll frankly tell TD that he has been decieved. God IS love. It’s who he is. It’s what he does. His mercy continues forever, his love endures forever, his grace never fails as his love never fails. In your blind, (disguised) hatred of us lovers of God and all our fellow man, you end up worshiping the devil in disguise. If only 10% of people are ever saved, the devil overwhelmongly “beat” God at his own game since the Bible says Jesus is the saviour of ALL men. If Jesus loses 90%, it doesn’t seem like God’s will was done since God “wills ALL to be saved” and don’t believe that freewill baloney your preacher is talking about. Freewill is a delusion as no man can circumvent the will of God. Even Satan appears to have free will but God is just using him to acheive his own ends. A god that would create creatures he knew would sin and knew 90% would reject him during their life on earth and then torments them eternally for not loving him is a sadistic, psychotic God - sounds more like a devil to me. May the grace and mercy of God our Father and the Lord Jesus our saviour be with you always.

There’s a sort of limited permaban in place until we can figure out why the forum engine has stopped allowing us to tempban. TD can still read posts as a visitor.

I notice Alex (another admin) has begun removing unnecessary insults from TD’s posts meanwhile. I’m fine with that in principle, but two of his insults to CL were that he was a corpse and a snake (based on CL’s account name), explaining CL’s reply.

I’m grateful to atheists.

An atheist is like an enema. Flushes all sorts of crap out of your brain. Unpleasant, but you’re healthier for it. Trick is knowing when to stop.

Well I’ve heard of babies and bathwater - but this is the genuine article  . I undertand that the Greek word ‘catharsis’ is orginally a medical term. It can mean a rebalancing of what is out of balance - be these virtues that have become vices, or medical ‘humours’ becoming infections. But the primary meaning is purgation of the bowels. So by extension its what happens at the end fo a tragedy accoring to Aristotle - society is rebalanced/purged after sacrifice and our harmful emotions are rebalanced/purged by the spectacle. But hey - this is a new take on an ancient issue  Miss you at Lent -
