Recently, I happened to be reading a post put up by a ‘Facebook friend’ on the ‘Latter Rain’. This is a topic I haven’t visited for a long time and not since becoming a Universalist.
Anyway, it got me thinking about what perspective other Universalists might have on the topic of the Former and Latter Rain particularly in light of Universalist beliefs.
I realise there are a whole raft of beliefs around this topic but I guess I’m asking amongst other things if your belief in Universalism has shaped your view in any way on this topic and what these views might be.
(For myself the belief I grew up with (though never felt necessarily strongly about) was that the Former rain was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and the Latter rain - yet to come - is an outpouring of the Spirit just before the ‘Second Coming’’ for the preparation of the ‘Final Harvest’).
But ‘Final Harvest’ now is a different concept to me as a Universalist!
What say you?
Cheers S
