I think the man is remarkable! Whether he survives as pastor or whether his church survives intact after opening this discussion remains to be seen. But surely what he is doing is what a true church should always be doing. The shame is that he is probably in a tiny minority. I thank God that I was able to introduce the pastor of an independent church, in my home city in the north of England, to the topic of evangelical universalism and after about a year he has subsequently had the courage to open the debate within his church. He himself has an open mind but wishes for all to explore this possibility.
