Bauckham is a leading scholar on the book of Revelation and clearly describes his hope of universalism in Hope against Hope: Christian Eschatology at the Turn of the Millennium.

Other related books by Bauckham include:

Climax of Prophecy: Studies on the Book of Revelation

By the way, Robin Parry says that Bauckham is one of his favorite scholars.

Good Lord!! Baukham!??

Awesome!

(I was already a fan of his work, but hadn’t read him widely enough yet I guess…)

Update: I’ve been reading Bauckham’s smaller book on the thelogy of RevJohn (preparatory to reading what seems to be his larger book, The Climax of Prophecy), and if he isn’t a purgatorial universalist of some kind, it’s only by avoiding the extremely obvious implications of what he is emphatically writing (and exegeting).

I hope to have a more thorough update later–and maybe a separate recommendation page for his RevJohn theology monograph.
