How To Live Under An Unqualified President by John Piper

The constant characterization that voting Democrat means we “celebrate” abortion is untrue.

Maybe I’m lost simply because our semantics differ. For me, whether gov’t allows a girl to wear male clothing, or your example of marrying another girl, does not “force Their BELIEFS” on me, or force me to believe or agree with a certain metaphysic.

I am still free to believe and teach that no female can ever really be a boy, or that same sex unions are not truly a marriage. I only have to allow others the freedom to practice something that my own beliefs would not practice. I can live with that.

Anyone who voted for Hillary should not even MENTION character. Gads.

I get the appeal of wanting no mention of presidential “character.”.

Ok, I’m a bit cynical (and a gift for understatement lol) but - if by ‘honest’ politician we mean someone who tells the truth, always - discloses all his donors, whether he ran in order to enrich himself and his friends, who the power is behind the throne, who really gets the money from government programsk such as construction jobs, how 90% of bureaucracies are not even needed, why wars are really waged, in other words ALL the ingredients in the sausage - there is not ONE such politician - at least, I’d feel very safe making a wager on that fact.
So - I don’t want my life to be ruled by the whims of any one of them, or any Party. Stick with the constitution, not as a ‘living’ document, but as originally intended and amended by a very strict rule of law. No more whims.

Thanks, I still see semantics. I’d say allowing others choices that I find incorrect means I am subject to being around people I disagree with. But it does NOT force me to “believe” their “ideology.”

Your example of gov’t limiting freedom of choices for blacks or Jews seems parallel to limiting transgender’s clothing choices, rather than contrary to it. In each case, gov’t uses its power to force practicing its dominant ideology on minorities that it sees as morally objectionable.

The gov’t currently allows freedom for choices about weapons, drugs, business practices, abortions, and all sorts of behavior that I recognize as absolutely wrong. I might try to convince fellow voters that this is unwise, but I’d never say that others’ freedom of choice “forces” me to believe any differently, or to affirm others’ “ideology.” Americans don’t, and don’t need to, all hold the same “ideologies.”

You made several inaccurate statements Bob, one would think you know better?
There is no “constant characterization”, I actually have no idea what you are talking about and also as you well know I was referring to Democratic politicians who almost all support abortion and many gleefully. In fact it is just about a litmus test now.

You have several times said nothing matters but Democrats who “celebrate” abortion. Amid little American agreement about this decision generally made by a woman and her physician, I find that an untrue pejorative characterization of most who believe we should not criminalize those who choose an abortion. My pastoral experience with mothers who made such a decision is that none “celebrated” what was an agonizing situation.

Your charge that most candidates are “gleeful” about this issue begs for documentation expressing such “glee.” Anyone who is gleeful about this tragic issue has no experience with real life and is pathetic.

See here for a view of the pathetic.

Trump has no chance of really draining the swamp; he’ll do what he can - which is much more than past Presidents; but the real power is not the people, it’s Mammon:

" The $1.4 billion trillion federal spending bill that passed the House and Senate and was signed into law Friday is a travesty. Thanks to the usual “ pass it or the government shuts down over Christmas ” manufactured crisis, there was no time for critics to examine the massive bill and grasp the magnitude of the shakedown of taxpayers. You can be damn sure that the lobbyists who wrote the portions of the bill enriching their clients know exactly what is in them, but it takes time for the representatives of the rest of us to discover the extent of the chicanery."

Thanks, that’s a perfect example of what I mean by crazy pathetic.

I see little evidence that Trump has any interest in draining the powers of self-interest or Mammon.

I’m hoping we do get the truth about that one line out of an e-mail. The Beeb seems very happy about the impeachment of Mr. Trump. Sadly lacking were any facts about the kangaroo court officiated by Mr. Schiff; but there’s the Beeb for ya.

Response: I’m lost. You appear to says it’s o.k. for gov’t to allow choice about things that are morally wrong, but not about things that are “metaphysically” incorrect? I’ve perceived debates about metaphysics lack consensus, and such beliefs generally should not be enforced.

My bias would be to usually let people affirm whatever “metaphysics” they’re convinced of, as long as they don’t assault me, or tell me what belief I must embrace. Where do you get the assurance that political power must enforce “metaphysical claims,” but not moral truths?

Trying to find a way to get rid of the President we elected by using a phony accusation of what Biden explicitly did, and not prosecuting Biden for it, is the height of hypocrisy.
We have yet to see if the email means what BBC is claiming - surely they don’t even know yet, but are willing to toss Dt under the tram anyway - and if the email turns out to be substantive, to what extent Trump is culpable, and whether that is impeachable.
We don’t know any of that yet, except that the kangaroo court was just that. I’d be glad to review the reasons why.

Meanwhile, they’ve impeached an extremely popular President. Popular for many good reasons.

"President Donald Trump’s approval rating has soared past that of ex-President Barack Obama’s at the same point in his administration, defying negative sterotypes driven by opponents as he became only the third president in U.S. history to be impeached.

Trump’s job approval rating 151 weeks into his presidency sits at 45 percent, as revealed by a Gallup poll last Wednesday. That puts Trump three points higher than the 42 percent approval rating Gallup found for Obama at the same point of his presidency."

What prosecutable law or policy did Biden explicitly break?

Perhaps the Babylon Bee has the best perspective?
" Impeachment can be confusing. But The Babylon Bee is here with an explainer so you will know how the process works and what it takes for Dems to snap their fingers together and make Trump disappear in a cloud of dust.

What is impeachment?

It’s the official, constitutional method for screaming at the sky because Trump is president.

Why is Trump being impeached?

Trump has committed some very serious offenses, from not being a Democrat to being a Republican. He also won the 2016 election, which rises to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors. He also restored the celebration of Christmas after eight years of winter with no Christmas under Obama. This drove Dems up a wall so they drummed up some charges against him.

Why didn’t Democrats include any criminal offenses in the articles of impeachment?

There were just so many of them, it was hard to pick one. So, instead of laying out actually impeachable offenses, the Democrats summarized it all with two main articles of impeachment: 1.) Trump is president. 2.) TRUMP IS PRESIDENT.

What does it take to remove the president from office?

Faith, trust, and pixie dust.

Will Trump be removed from office?

Lol.

If we believe in ourselves and try hard, and Trump is removed, Hillary Clinton becomes president, right?

Actually, Mike Pence would become president, basically making the United States into a Handmaid’s Tale -style dystopia.

What happens if Trump is impeached in the House but acquitted in the Senate?

Democrats don’t get the big prize, but they each get a complimentary copy of Impeachment: The Board Game .

Once the House votes to officially impeach President Trump, what happens next?

Trump wins the 2020 election."

The far right has lost all equilibrium.
