Not sure what you see in that quote? It seems nostalgia may be the reason. I surmise you are trying to compare World War 2, to the Corona virus? If so, I don’t even see them as even apple to oranges comparison, much less apples to apples.
As I said, I see Churchill in that quote as modeling leadership that can present “hard truths” that call for sacrificing a quick return to the citizenry’s previous life.
Today some leaders are emphasizing that the worst is behind us with Covid-19 which will soon just go away, and others are urging that its more painful reality may be that we still need to sacrifice some of our recent freedom and prosperity to meet its’ challenge. I’m unsure which emphasis will end up gaining the most support and trust from voters, but I suspect perceptions of this will affect our election.

I lack the energy these days to dive into the intricate details of the current ’ mess of pottage ’ that is the political condition of the (dis)United States of America. The essence of the matter appears to be that the, er, ‘sainted’ former President ‘Obamarama’ was, in fact, " a dirty rat " of the very worst kind who led a cabal of crooks in a highly organised campaign of spying and subversion against the Republican party and their Presidential candidate at the time, Donald Trump. Suffice to say that whilst there is little doubt that the Republican party has its fair share of scallywags, the Democrat party is corrupt and criminal to its very core. Former President ‘Obamarama’ must be running his finger round his collar as the heat mounts and he is in danger of wearing out the knees of his trousers as he prays ten times a day that Biden beats Trump in November. If Trump wins, and launches a judicial enquiry into those 2015/16 " events, dear boy, events ", it could be the American equivalent of the ’ Old Bill ’ feeling ‘Obamarama’s’ collar!

They went after a good boy, Nick Sandmann, and they cruelly made him into the face of racism. His own Catholic diocese in eastern Kentucky sold him out and sold out all the boys who stood with him that fateful day in Washington, D.C., when he was harassed by a messed-up Indian with a drum. And they did everything they could to destroy Brett Kavanaugh, a good man, a family man, a man who has devoted time throughout his life to his church and to the need. They endeavored through outright perjury to destroy him. The perjurers all got away with it. Name one single perjurer against Justice Kavanaugh who ever was brought to justice by Charles Grassley or Lindsey Graham of the Senate Judicial Committee.
The liars destroy with impunity because they know they always will get away with it. Republicans watch the character assassination and then go on Sean Hannity to sound brave for five minutes. “These people will pay a steep price, Sean.” “I won’t let them get away with it, Sean.” “Let not your heart be troubled, Sean.” “We will investigate every crime and every perjury, Sean.” Three years of hearing this from Paul Ryan, Reince Priebus, Trey Gowdy, Charles Grassley, Lindsey Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Jason Chaffetz, Kevin McCarthy. Well, Fox News Alert : They all got away with it. Comey. Brennan. Clapper. Blasey Ford. Schiff. Hillary. Strzok. Page. McCabe.
If the Left truly believed in the truth of the slogans they chanted in their failed effort to destroy Justice Kavanaugh, does anyone truly believe that Biden still would be standing today? Does anyone truly believe that Sonia Sotomayor could not have been completely destroyed at the time of her SCOTUS nomination if she were conservative? If the media were not a division of the Democrat Party, does anyone doubt that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo today would have been forced from office like his immediate predecessors, Eliot Spitzer and David Paterson, if only for presiding over so extraordinary a health catastrophe that his one state accounts for half the coronavirus illnesses and deaths in the whole country? Cuomo ordered nursing homes in his state to admit coronavirus-infected seniors into facilities that were woefully unprepared to handle the medical ramifications, and that order singularly caused mass death. And yet the same media that seek any and every angle to blame Trump for not wearing a mask lionize Cuomo, who not only should wear a mask but also should change his fingerprints, undergo plastic surgery to reconfigure his appearance, and hide for dear life in some El Chapo cave from the children and grandchildren left behind by the more than 5,000 defenseless seniors whom he has martyred so far on the altar of Democrat liberalism."

Spygate has a new name under the trending Twitter hashtag #ObamaGate. It is being revealed to the public in a slow but systematic fashion, a treasonous plot to undermine a presidential election and subsequent presidency. When that failed, the plot twisted to destroying a duly elected president through leaks, innuendo, and outright lies.
This was not simply a few rogue FBI or DOJ agents taking justice into their own hands. Instead a plot of this magnitude had the blessing of the big boss, the capo di tutti capi , as the Mafia like to say, the boss of all bosses, President Barack Hussein Obama. Hence the name ObamaGate.
It seems that the Obama administration was spying not only on candidate Donald Trump, but a host of other political opponents using NSA “about” queries. These unauthorized searches of the NSA’s database of all electronic communications numbered in the thousands and were carried out by intelligence “contractors” until NSA director Admiral Mike Rogers shut it all down. Conservative Treehouse has a detailed description and timeline of this nefarious activity.
Setting aside political backstabbing on both sides. Let’s let folks decide what they believe, in Nov. 2020. 
Amen, voters will reflect whether they see the management of a world-wide crisis as effective.
Trust me “the right” wants nothing more then honest elections. We didn’t like Obama but didn’t try to destroy him.
