Listening to it now - so far it’s been good…
Steve Brown just said Richard Baxter was universalist Does someone what to confirm that & add it to pog’s list?
Baxter? It’d a great name to add, but I’m a bit sceptical at the mo … Did he say why Baxter was a universalist, or give a quote or ref? (haven’t listened to it yet - will later today).
(just out of curiosity: anyone know if Hellbound is coming to the UK?)
You can always order it from the US (or maybe Canada?) and choose a cheap shipping route, Pog. I do that with things from the UK occasionally.
I notice that Jenkins’ explanation of the four points on which Baxter differed from Calvs of his day, does not involve him differing on the persistence of God to save those He chooses to save from sin. Did Jenkins just forget to include that?–did he think it was implied in the universal scope of salvation?–did he think it was implied in (what he reports as) Baxter’s emphasis on the responsibility of human choice to respond to God in faith?
Because of Baxter affirmed the original persistence of God, not differing from Calvs on that, but differed from them on rejecting limited atonement and affirming universal atonement instead, then we know what that adds up to.
Unfortunately not - you could ask him in the comments? I would but I’ve already posted 3 comments in a row so don’t want to push my luck
Last time I asked, Kevin said it was…
