While the Bible tells us that the norm of the Christian ethic is to love our neighbor, there are exceptions. In cases like self-defense or when someone is violently attacking another person It would be best to use force to try and restrain the person. I guess you could say that such restraint would be good for all people involved. It would be love but not the kind of love that is defined as being “patient” and “kind”. In such cases the best thing would to be a lion. Christ was a lamb there’s no doubt about it. But He is also the lion of Judah in certain instances. This is what I mean by “hate”. In the Bible “Hate” comes in all degrees and intensities. Anywhere from dislike to abhore. The idea is to be a lamb but there is also a time to roar.
