That’s a great question. My own view is that God can change dispositions, but not by simple fiat. I believe he has, in creating the universe, simultaneously limited his omnipotence and therefore made what he can do dependent on the creation itself.

Well, I think GMac in the quote you posted has it exactly right.
So I don’t think he forces us —It’s not by simple fiat that our dispositions are changed–it’s more subtle than that. It’s a courtship, a “wooing” in some ways. But that’s also limiting. I think, as GMac says it’s more forceful at times—education to be sure, but also **“driving”, “pushing” and “leading.” **I’m not sure what the limits on force are that would make this process “un-free”, but I’m sure God uses every means up to that point.
