My interview with KEVIN MILLER, maker of Hellbound

Hello folks.

This is my INTERVIEW with Christian universalist movie maker Kevin Miller who produced “Hellbound”.

I’d be truly delighted to learn your thoughts. I think it could be interesting if some of you were to directly comment on my blog (and perhaps even challenge me) because I do want my reader to be exposed to a lot of different opinions.

And such conversations can also help my own thoughts to evolve a bit in the right direction

I really spend a lot of time linking as many things as possible and hope you’ll appreciate the result.
Still, I’m a work of progress in nearly every respect and welcome all kinds of advice

Lovely greetings in Christ.

Nice interview, Marc!

Thanks

Skim read it so far, will take a proper look soon. Looks great.

I really hope you’ll appreciate it, Jonny

I’ve left a comment on your site lotharson. Really enjoyed the interview

Thanks for your comment!

I shall answer you as soon as I find the time

Ah so that’s what you look like Johnny  Good post! I agree!!! I was tiring to help Marc out by dealing with the issues of his ultra conservative Christian poster for him who got in there first. But then trust an annihilationist he goes and picks me up on my universalism when I do him a favour. He’s a cheeky blighter that Marc  He wouldn’t do that to Kevin Miller - Kevin’s far too important.

Hey Dick.

Sorry if I acted like a faithless asshole. I can assure you I did that entirely unwittingly

I generally tend to always honestly say what I think, and this explains why I’m terribly unsuccesful with women.

As for Kevin, I challenged him about universalism and clearly stated:

“Lotharson: Okay, thanks for the correction. I didn’t know you believe in libertarian freedom. You once said that freedom is just a mean to the end of our salvation. But what if freedom is an end in itself? What if God’s main purpose in creating us was that we develop a good personality naturally desiring Him, so that those lacking it won’t inherit eternal life but BE NO MORE? Is it not conceivable as well?”

So you cannot say I masked my view.

But maybe I’ve been (unconsciously) a bit harsher towards you?
My sincere apologies then. I’ve the good feeling we will be reconciled before the next ten millions of years will be over

(If we are in purgatory, do you think there will be Internet and lots of blogging opportunities? If so, I think I might very well recruit you for other conversations, if you don’t mind. )

My computer system and/or browser don’t like commenting on your site for technical reasons entirely obscure to me (or I’d post this here instead).

But you’re asking whether it is conceivable that the final and utter destruction of someone’s freedom serves freedom as an end in itself. No, that is not logically conceivable, it’s self-contradictory in principle.

If you reply that (despite what you wrote) you didn’t mean to ask what if freedom is an end in itself, but rather the quite different proposition that God’s main purpose in creating us is to develop a good personality naturally desiring Him; then I would answer that for God to permanently destroy all possibility of God’s main purpose in creating something being achieved, is self-contradictory to the proposed main purpose of God.

Annihilation of an object by God (or even the ongoing hopeless torment of a person by God’s authority) can only be conceivable so far as it doesn’t contradict God’s main purpose for that object. To intentionally contradict God’s main purpose, is practically the same as sin.

Just to put your mind at rest - I wasn’t remotely annoyed. I was pulling your leg. Happy to help you out  I take some getting used to - but Erasmus has had a formative influence on me and I can’t help pulling legs (I hope I’m never cruel with the witticisms  ) You go back to Jason’s definition above me.

I appear to have been censored by Marc now. I dunno; annihilationists - funny lot

No, it wasn’t a censor at all, I just don’t find it back
