Good Read and something to think about.

It is good – I’m only less than half-way through. :frowning: It’s l.o.n.g.

So far I think what he has to say is mostly right on. Of course (in my experience) it isn’t western theologians who think the devil is God’s minister of torment in hell, but rather popular western theology.

And I’m just into the part where he insists that man subjects himself to eternal hell and that that fate is sealed at death. Obviously I think he’s mistaken about this. First he insists that eternality of life depends on God and that God is loving and merciful, but then he insists that men live forever in the state in which they died. I think that God, being all powerful, might at least put these miserable beings out of their miserable existence . . . obviously, to me. This part doesn’t seem to follow.

However, these are my points of contention thus far, and most of his points are grounds for a loud “Amen!” I’m not sure whether I’ll keep reading, though. I’m not a fast reader, and I have a lot to do this morning . . . Thanks for posting this, Nimble!

Blessings, Cindy

I’ve read this article before, some time ago. He definitely makes some good points over and against Western theology, although he does unfortunately end up taking the basically Arminian approach to salvation and damnation.
