"The Meaning of Hope" C.F.D. Moule (A Biblical study)

"The tenacity of love is a great theme of Hosea. He finds he cannot give up his wicked wife, try as he will. Can we believe the love of God in Jesus to be less tenacious? I cannot believe that such love does not pursue us even in hell. If We cannot rest without knowing that our loved ones are right with God, is it conceivable that God can be content to let them go?

Freedom to choose alienation from God must be a reality. Yet I find it well-nigh impossible to believe that such overwhelming, infinitely patient love as God shows us in Christ can, in the last resort, be defeated… would it not mean that God’s love was defeated?
