The Worm That I Am
I’m broken beat and shattered
Abandoned by the world and tattered
Hated by those who have power
Abused by the world every hour
A worm I have become to You
No self-esteem or glory that’s true
I’m nothing but a vessel empty
Resisting Satan as he tempts me
Filled with the love of the Spirit
As She calls my name I can hear it
An outcast in the world I’m a fool
Don’t fit in with the rich or cool
If you wonder why I even bother
It’s because I have God as my Father
Christ as my Lord and Royal King
Lifting up my broken heart to sing
So no matter what happens I’m grateful
No longer inflated with self and hateful
Despised by the world that’s me
But at least I know I’m free
