What d'ya think of Guy Fawkes Night?

So enjoyed this thread  Thank you Dick and all good brothers and sisters for bringing me back to boaarding school days in England and vivid memory still of the bonfire I most remember, V E Day end of WW2, aged 8 with the whole school marched off singing to the local village celebrations  which ended round a massive bonfire with the horrible little man Hitler tied to a stake on top. I have no memory of Guy Fawkes nights during the following ten years at school in England! But that bonfire I will always remember and I don’t think any of us, well drilled little Chrstians, doubted that Hitler :imp: was on his way straight to Hell!!!

That’s great Michael – given the circumstances I think you can be forgiven for a bit of Adolf catharsis. And you are welcome to join us in our cross cultural heritage celebration next year. (I must admit I’ve really enjoyed this thread and don’t want it to end – although it is ending I think ).

Ack – Talk of this overseas party makes me sad – I barely have the gas money to drive to work much less purchase a ticket to England. If I had the resources or reason, I would hitch a ride on my college’s “Literary London” study-abroad program, but studying literature in London is completely unhelpful to an art major.

And you Europeans are lucky that you live (relatively) close together – at least compared to yours truly. In the time it would take me to drive downtown, you all could feasibly be in another country!

I propose that we built a giant, giant bridge.

Thanks for the invite for next year Dick, looks like there’ll be no lack of musical ideas. Hope you can join in Kate!
