The Evangelical Universalist Forum

What would be the best way to compare/tabulate UR books?

Yes, I’ve been trying to work out for months what the best way to compare the books would be. Maybe some kind of star system?? e.g.

The Evangelical Universalist might get:
5/5 stars for academic depth
3/5 stars for easy introduction to EU
etc.

Love Wins might get:
3/5 stars for academic depth
5/5 starts for easy introduction to EU
etc.

Maybe not even stars but a chart or a comparison page similar to what you find with software.

What are the kind of things we want to compare? e.g. Suitability for Calvinists, Suitability for Arminians, Suitability for non-churched, Philosophical vs. Biblical approaches (I’m not saying that Philosophy can’t be Biblical, looking for a better way to word this!).

Are you opposing academic depth to easy introduction - so if it’s one it probably isn’t the other? I would definitely appreciate things being graded by likelihood of encountering unfamiliar words with multiple syllables (like aseity, which I came across in one of the posts here for the first time ever!)

This is such an old thread I’m thinking you must have got answers elsewhere.

It is an older thread, one I never noticed and apparently others did not notice. Maybe a good way to start would be to list the various criteria that would be good to grade the material by. For example:

Accademic Depth
Accademic Breadth
Philosophy
Emotional appeals
Style
Audience
Readability

Actually this is still relevant, it’s just I’ve done nothing about it yet  I hope it will be something I’ll be able to do once I’ve done the website… (yeah, I know that’s taking forever to do!)

Good suggestions Sherman.
