The Evangelical Universalist Forum

Which of these statements do you agree with?

  1. God loves all people
  2. God predestines all those he loves to be saved
  3. To be saved one must accept Jesus Christ as Lord

Which of these statements do you agree with, and which do you disagree with?

If you believe 1 and 3 are true but 2 is false you are an Arminian.
If you believe that 1 is false and 2 and 3 are true, you are a Calvinist.
If you believe 1 and 2 are true but 3 is false you are a Liberal.

BUT If you believe all 3 are true you are an Evangelical Universalist.

I believe 1 and 3 and reject 2, but I also believe that all will eventually get saved. You don’t have to believe 2 to be an evangelical universalist.

How is God allowing people to exist for enough time to “eventually get saved” different to God predestining them to be saved? Seems to be the same thing to me.

Hmm, if your idea of predestination has nothing to do with unconditional election, then it could be the same. Are you saying that your concept of predestination is completely compatible with Arminian conditional election?

Define Arminian conditional election and Predestination for me?

I understand Predestination as God creating a universe and guiding
history in this age and the age to come to ensure an individual is saved.
That is my understanding of Pre (before), Destined (heading to a destination).

If you believe all people will be saved, which I do, then it seems
necessary that they God has predestined all people. Can’t see any other
way it can work.
