why is not it written that god is a purrifiying fire

in revelation the word for fire or sulphur of the lake of fire comes from the greek word for god.
Somewhere it is written “i am the refiner”:but that may mean that there is the bema, some works of believers will be destroyed by fire
hebrews 12 doesn’t talk about a "purrifying"fire
thank you for your help

The works of ‘every man’ will be tried, and those works which are not found on God will be destroyed. This is a form of purification, as it is a purifying of the worthless from the valuable.

I would hardly think that every man that God made is intrinsically and at the very ground of his or her existence is worthless; that would mean God makes valueless beings. This intrinsic value, even if all the works of a person are destroyed, is a value that remains founded on God (God being the source and maintainer of this person’s very existence) and hence that value is saved. The man himself, every man, is saved, though as by fire; even if he suffers the loss of his works.
