EUs, Arminis & Calvs -- OH MY!!!

Wow! Tell us what you really think TD. Why does our tone have to change before yours will? Sounds like I’ll love you IF… conditional love. The kind of love that comes from a conditionally loving God preached in the churches. “IF you don’t love me, I’ll torment you for all eternity buwhahaha.” Seems we are not to Judge but your quick to condemn us that believe perfect love casts out all fear. Your own fear shone through on your post. You said, “your puny, little minds cannot even fathom rational, let alone HIS WAY”… does that mean you believe His Way is irrarational?
You said, “If there was zero fear of GOD in this evil world today, things would be far worse than they are now.” Do you think criminals (85% repeaters) have a fear of God that’s slowing them down or did you mean that people that fear God now would go out and commit all kinds of crime? IMO, even chtistians when they commit a crime and say they are sorry, they aren’t sorry for the act, they are sorry they got caught.
You said, “You people just keep refusing TRUTH for the simple fact that you don’t want to change and conform to what GOD wants of you.” - Is that you’re judgment of us? How do you know our spiritual state? Do you feel spiritually superior? Do you feel more spiritual by telling others they aren’t?
You said, " we are all brothers and sisters in sin until we come to Repentance," So AFTER we come to repentance we are no longer brothers and sisters? My brother, the whole point of Ultimate reconciliation is that God will BE all, IN all and all humans are children of God and therefore your brothers and sisters regardless of what they believe at the time you are in contact with them. Their beliefs will change just as yours and mine will when we see clearly instead of peering through a glass darkly. Every knee will willingly bow, and every tongue will willingly confess that Jesus is Lord - becuz if it wasn’t willingly, it wouldn’t be to the GLORY of the Father. We will all one day see that it is by the grace of God that the shed blood of Christ on the cross has saved ,Is saving us, and will save us for Him, so to be conformed to His image.

I didn’t think you could muster it up Eric. Like I said the hatred will spew…

Yep, it spews out of every one of your posts, starting with the first one you made on this forum. Brush the dust off of your sandals and just move on to the next town.

Incidentally, there appears to be a forum bug in the system, preventing us from setting up a reinstatement at a later date. We don’t want to permaban TD, so we’re working on getting the other fixed.

He isn’t trying to get on around an actually enacted ban, though, so we’re letting his posts stand.

If his taking advantage of our charity meanwhile annoys members who regard him as a troll, then I recommend not feeding the troll. There are plenty of other things to be studying and doing on the forum.

This brings up some really interesting thoughts, ded2. Since sin, by its very nature separates us from God and our fellows, there can be no brotherhood in sin. It is only through Christ that we become family, adopted as joint heirs of His kingdom.

Right. TD said we are all brothers and sisters in sin. I was questioning how we were brothers and sisters while in sin and his implication that we were no longer brothers and sisters after we came to repentance. Sorry, wasn’t clear. And we all will one day be family. Not in this life for most but they are still to be treated as such. Jesus said, whatever you do/for others, it’s the same as if you’d done it to/for me.

TD – I’m away from Forum at the moment – but I wanted to say a few words to you.

First is appropriating Jesus’ words to the Jewish authorities in John’s Gospel – that they were children of the Devil the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning – and for you to throw them at Universalists right? It feels wrong. I understand that you think you are doing this on Jesus’ authority in defence of his True and clear Biblical Gospel that you have by heart through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. So the problem for you seems to be that Universalists – although we are as hugely varied as Christians who believe in ECT or annihilationism are – distort the Gospel by teaching a lesser penalty for unrepentant sinners and the hope of universal reconciliation. But is it really fair to call us ‘children of the Devil’ for this reason? As you will know Jesus uses this epithet for people who are seeking to entrap and kill him. That’s hasn’t happened to you here – people have simply become angry and frustrated with you because you have called them harsh names. But I wonder why Jesus words to the Jewish authorities alone have such resonance for you? In the wider Church the woes against the Pharisees and indeed the charge of being children of the Satan – the liar and the murderer – have always been hedged about with caution when it comes to any mere mortal applying them to others. In my view we should always see these sayings in terms of the admonition to ‘pluck the log from our own eyes before taking the spec from our brother’s eye. I think that rather than direct woes at others – and dignify our anger and irritation with divine sanction – we always need to bear in mind that we too can be like Lawyers and Pharisees and like the Jewish authorities anxious for our power.

Certainly you will see people getting angry on this site, and working through anger too; that’s natural and human. But on reflection they will often apologise graciously. And it is largely a very decent and polite forum for discussion amongst people from a wide variety of perspectives – it really is; and the Mods and Admins do a wonderful job. Obviously from your perspective you would be glad if this forum ceased to exist – and that presents them and the site users with a bit of a problem.

Second, one thing I think about your posts is that however well intended they are, they haven’t really demonstrated the graciousness of the Gospel. The original context of your posting – when we were talking with someone suffering panic attacks – was not only misguided but I think unloving and reckless. Not only the content of your posts suggested this to me but also the form – you don’t break your posts up in ways that are easy to digest and that can make a chap panic any-day. Because of your posts I actually struck out at someone who was actually pretty much innocent – and I’ve apologised for this and they’ve accepted graciously.

Don’t know what else to say – but I wish you blessings and the discovery of God’s patient and longsuffering love towards all of his children.

Dick

No doubt the Pharisees thought the same.

Why do you choose your particular idea of God, TD? Is it because the Bible says so?

If so, why do you choose your particular interpretation of the Bible rather than one of the thousand alternatives?

For me, I choose my particular God because He is good, and I choose an interpretation of the Bible which also says God is good. By good, I mean really good. Better than the best person you’ll ever know. Would the best person you’ve ever known throw even a rat into the fire? I’m telling you some good news here. Really* good* news.

“Judge for yourselves what is right,” says Jesus. “Choose this day whom you will serve,” says Joshua.

You accidentally double-posted, Dick, so I deleted the first one – you had already edited the second one yourself, so I figured that’s the one you’d keep.

Reminder to members: TD can’t reply at the moment, so please don’t send challenges toward him when he can’t defend himself.

If any members or visitors want to know what TD’s first posts on the forum were like, you can read the start of this thread; aside from a post or two much later in another thread, this thread contains all his posts on the forum ever so far.

Right from the first TD was saying “Anyone who tells you different has fallen under delusion from disobediance towards God and is a liar… Unfortunatly this teaching of no hell is a satanic Lie, for satan wants you to perish with no chance of Eternal Salvation… Beware of liars and False Prophets for they are Everywhere and and are out to Decieve.”

That first sentence was his third ever on the forum; the last was the last of his first post; the second sentence was kind of in the middle.

No one goaded him into saying those things. He volunteered them from the first, trying to protect Miss Tea from us (in effect). (This thread was split off from another one where a new member who had fear for other people was looking for reassurance.)
