How To Live Under An Unqualified President by John Piper

Thanks, Bob. I think we are dealing with a few different things.

If we are dealing with counseling folks who are at the end of life, sure, your position is valid and understood. If we are talking about actually encouraging folks to end it all, well, you will have to deal with the ramifications.

Hereā€™s an interesting story, from the BBC today.

Well, it could be we need to figure it out.

This is from todayā€™s BBC news:

ā€œOver the past hundred years, there have been more than two dozen attempts to build a socialist society. It has been tried in the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Albania, Poland, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Romania, Czechoslovakia, North Korea, Hungary, China, East Germany, Cuba, Tanzania, Benin, Laos, Algeria, South Yemen, Somalia, the Congo, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Mozambique, Angola, Nicaragua and Venezuela, among others. All of these attempts have ended in varying degrees of failure. How can an idea, which has failed so many times, in so many different variants and so many radically different settings, still be so popular?ā€
"It is because socialists have successfully managed to distance themselves from those examples. "

Oh, great! I see Dave resurrected this thread. Just like someone resurrecting a zombie, from Z-Hell (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). Letā€™s give Dave a big hand! :grinning:

Dang, I posted in the wrong thread. I thought this one was ā€˜deadā€™?

Keep hope alive, and keep the Trump thread alive!

And Dave has pointed these things out much to your chagrin. :grimacing:

There seems to be a wide variety of opinion as to which countries are socialist.
India has been considered to be socialist. Is there ā€œa degree of failureā€ there?
Some list Canada as a socialist country. Is there ā€œa degree of failureā€ there?

Well, now that my group is backing Trumpā€™s reelection bidā€¦I can see I have a difficult task, promoting himā€¦with all the ā€œapparently negativeā€ coverage, by the worldā€™s media. Itā€™s like the boat springs a leakā€¦and Curly is trying, to apply a ā€œfixā€.

But my group will ā€œkeep on truckingā€, as the Grateful Dead once sung about.

Hereā€™s an article from a blog post, in my email today:

Yes, I distinctly recall him campaigning by criticizing the FED for not realistically raising the rates. I believe heā€™s even now touting negative interest rates wherein weā€™d have to pay banks to safeguard our savings. This denial that money deserves to have value wreaks havoc on retired folks who need interest from their savings to keep up with inflation.

But historically, when politicians are running for reelection, there is often little they wonā€™t do to seek a temporary bump in the economy at the risk of long-term harm to the nation.

They do have negative interest rates in certain areas in Europe but I think itā€™s a bad idea partly motivated when there is to much national debt.
Yes Trump is looking to bump up the economy to get reelected just as the Dems promise things that canā€™t be paid for in 10 lifetimes.

India has evolved to a market economy and Canada is a mixed economy.

Actually he has accomplished that, but of course the impending election will cause a flurry on both sides.

Who is your group?

Theā€™worldā€™s mediaā€™ have been lying to us for 3 years, every day, about almost everything. They are in fact deplorable non-journalists. IMNShO.
Ok not every single one of the reporters - but the main voices have lied over and over - why does anyone even listen to them anymore? They have no agenda but to bring down a president - and damn the country: letā€™s have a recession (that hurts everyone but the rich, such as Bill Maher.)

Iā€™m glad you asked!

Nah Daveā€¦ DONā€™T go blaming the world media; you guys freely voted for Trump and so duly have and will get what you fully deserveā€¦ so take responsibility for your own choices.

Yep per, and I myself feel just fine with Mr Trump as opposed to Mr Obama.
