How To Live Under An Unqualified President by John Piper

DONALD TRUMP’S TWEET ON JANUARY 2:
North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!

Is this the kind of remark a U.S. President would make? Or is it more like the kind of remark a child would make about his rival in play?

Actually I thought Trump’s response was hysterical but of course if one is committed to making Trump seem like a buffoon then you won’t see any humor in it.

I’ve avoided getting political lately, but I will say this on the tax bill. It is foolish policy to increase the debt by over a trillion dollars when the country is not in recession and doesn’t need stimulus. Republicans pretended to care about the debt when Obama was President and trying to get our country back to full employment. Now that Republicans had a chance to increase the debt with a massive tax cut for rich people, they don’t care about the debt any more. For all the right wingers here, I just hope you remember this next time there’s a recession and stimulus measures are being debated.

I don’t think your post could be any more inaccurate if you tried. The tax Reform Act would cause a deficit of 1.5 trillion over 10 years with no growth. But the govt takes in 4 trillion so with only .4% of economic growth it will pay for this debt and it will generate this growth and benefit many more people then the rich. African Americans now have their lowest unemployment rate in over 2 decades plus the Corporate tax cut is a no brainer because the rest of the world averages a 25% Corporate tax rate whereas we had it at 35%. If we didn’t change it then Corporations would move oversees which nowadays is not difficult so unless you wanted the majority of Americans working for the govt then this tax cut was a much needed action. Even Obama had acknowledged we need a 25% corp tax rate although he never initiated anything.

Well, looks like it might be okay regarding the debt, because look how much we’ll save not shipping barge-loads of cash money to terrorists, not supporting Pakistan and Hezbollah with their horrible human rights records, religious repression and abysmal treatment of the US. Add to that, halting quite a large chunk of UN funding (now let’s sell those buildings and send the UN moochers off to Belgium; why should we forever host them?). Let’s see now (rubs hands together greedily) what else can we stop throwing money away on?

The Dems’ stage angst is frankly hilarious. NOW they’re worried about the deficit which their magic men conjured into a towering inferno while they stood by applauding.

With regard to the Nuclear Button comments, Ronald Reagan comes to mind. “We begin bombing in five minutes.” Referring to the Democrat’s best friend, no wait, worst enemy, no wait, best friend, the then USSR. Ronnie Ray-gun did all right on that front as I recall. I just wish he’d managed to push through his initiative scornfully referred to at the time as “Star Wars.” We could use a little Star Wars right now, right this very minute in fact.

There are a significant number of U.S. citizens who boldly proclaim that he is not their president either.
I predicted even before he was elected, that there was a likelihood of his touching off a nuclear war with North Korea. He has already spoken about wiping out North Korea, which Kim took as a threat…and now this big button on his desk that will WORK.

I see no reason whatever to be concerned about Mr. Trudeau’s actions. I’ve certainly never heard any reports of his making ludicrous statements in the Trumpery fashion. And I am concerned with Canada itself. If a nuclear exchange occurs between the U.S.A. and North Korea, I’m sure there will be ramifications for Canada. The U.S.A. is not an isolated entity apart from the rest of the world (as much as Mr. Trump might like it to be).

The last thing we (and DJT) want is a nuclear exchange with anybody. However, if crazy Kim (who has had his own family members slaughtered, along with any of his citizens he chooses, along with their little babies all the way to their ancient grandparents, for little to no offenses) forgets that “very large 'button” of which DJT wrote, and if having forgotten, Crazy Kim decides one day, “Eh, what the hey? I’m gonna nuke 'em,” then guess what? NoKo along with all Kim’s innocent and cruelly abused slaves, will immediately become a poisonous ruin. Because he’s nuts, it’s important to make sure Crazy Kim believes the threat.

See, this is what you do if some jerk breaks into your house and you meet him in the living room with your big black rifle with the strobe flashlight and the red-dot scope and the bayonet poking out the end just to make it look scarier. You DON’T want to shoot him, but you don’t want HIM to know that. So you act like you’re way past crazy enough to pull that trigger. Sure, you’ll pull it to save your wife, your kids, heck, probably even to save yourself (you have a right to keep all your appendages, too). Do you act all reasonable and explain to the intruder that you really, really don’t want to hurt him, so please just get on the floor and spread out your arms and legs because I really, really don’t want to hurt you and besides, I’m a pacifist. NO!!! You will die and if you’re lucky, you’ll die before the guy gets hold of your wife and daughters so you can’t be forced to watch what he does. NO. You act like a crazy man. You say words that you wouldn’t say in front of your Sunday school class. You yell and scream and rant and command the *0@%^ to get the ECT on the ^&@ floor and if he doesn’t, you’re gonna blow his +#%$ brains out. THAT is what DJT is doing. I’m really surprised I need to explain this. The whole point is to avoid nuclear war. It would be a VERY short nuclear war, but you know… Don’t tell crazy Kim, but just between the two of us, DJT REALLY doesn’t want to be forced to “push that button,” even though he will if he has to.

Today’s quote, I’ve shared on twitter…Is applicable to the Holy Fools tradition, zombies, folks here and politics.

And this came in my email box today. They said it’s a good book read. They don’t know, if it’s accurate or not.

Hopefully, they will say the same thing. If I write a fictional account… Of the up-and-coming tribulation and the Zombie Apocalypse.

Why you should read Fire and Fury today

“boldly”? I wouldn’t use that adjective but anyway Kim was advancing his nuclear capabilities throughout the 8 years of Obama but because Obama ignored him Kim did it quietly. But Kim’s desire is to reunite NK with South Korea by any means. He also would like to destroy Japan and then sell his technology to Iran and any terrorist groups who can pay for it. So you seem like whatever Kim does you are committed to blaming Trump because had Trump not upset Kim he would have quietly put his nuclear toys away and left SK alone. It surely is Trump’s fault.

Good post Steve.

And then there’s this, which no Trump-hater will acknowledge, it seems:

"Democratic warnings that President Trump would make life worse for minorities were discredited once again Friday, with the release of new unemployment statistics for December. In just under one year in office, the president and the Republican Congress have helped minorities make dramatic gains.

Since taking the reins from President Obama, President Trump and the GOP-controlled Congress have embraced free-market and pro-liberty economic policies. Now – after a year of reducing regulations, approving a tax cut, and encouraging stricter standards for numerous welfare programs at the state level – the economy is thriving. Working-age minorities are benefitting in ways they have rarely, if ever, have enjoyed in the modern era.

The U.S. Labor Department reported Friday that the unemployment rate for African-Americans fell to 6.8 percent in December – the lowest rate since recordkeeping began in 1972. That’s an astounding drop from the 8.3 percent black unemployment rate in October 2016, just before Donald Trump was elected president." - and there’s more at foxnews.com/opinion/2018/01/ … obama.html

Ohno!! From Fox!! It’a made up fake statistics. :unamused:

I think the zombies, are now getting restless. The Zombie Apocalypse…will arrive sooner than we think :open_mouth:

Why - because the economy is booming and many more people are working??

But I don’t see many zombies - getting jobs. Job discrimination, you know. :astonished:

True. :frowning:

Well… I, for one, certainly don’t hate him. I simply see his actions as dangerous for the whole world. That fact does not in itself elicit hate. Christians don’t hate anyone.

Let those who do hate him give reasons for their hate.

It could be that DJT has developed a different way with dealing with the adversarial media, the unresponsive Governments, and the idea that he is dangerous is simply due to your idea of decorum? :open_mouth:

Is it a bad thing that we try to find something going RIGHT instead of the last 8 crappy years under Obama? Must it be pessemism all the time?

Dump on Trump if it makes you feel better. Trump is not the issue - America is, and I think there are signs great promise. Whether he will be allowed to continue remains to be seen.

And, least we forget. He would have some “creative ways”, of dealing with the Zombie Apocalypse

Yes.

  1. Dump on Trump.
  2. Have a trauma with Obama.
  3. Construct a pillory for Hillary.

As Dave said, it’s not about Trump. It’s more about whether you believe Capitalism is a good system for America. IMO many of the Trump haters were also Reagan haters & Bush haters but really what they are , are Capitalism haters. They think it’s unfair and makes winners and losers & oppresses certain groups so they want a more equitable system like Socialism. IMHO Capitalism is by far the best system because it makes the pie bigger so that we don’t end up with a Venezuela scenario with everyone fighting over scraps. All the innovations we take for granted came from Entrepreneurs creating new things out of a profit motive, that’s the reality of the human condition. Capitalism lines up with human nature better then other systems.
