Awesome! I so wish I could go!
Videos, You Tube----Pretty please from the USA???
Excellent idea - I’ll email & encourage the organiser to arrange that.
Just posting to bring this back to “View Active Topics”. In case anyone missed this, Robin Parry (“Gregory MacDonald”) is the speaker at this day conference on Saturday - just a stone’s throw from London. A number of the London EU folk will be attending and I predict a Grand Day Out. Be there or be square.
everything seems to be going to plan for me, so i will be there!
I am so jealous. Have a great time guys
Hi Jael
And I’ve no idea if I’ll be able to get there. Hope Cornwall is proving amenable
[tag]corpselight[/tag], [tag]revdrew61[/tag], [tag]Gregory MacDonald[/tag] & anyone else who was there, how did it go? Videos, photos, powerpoints, etc.??
It was a top day Alex. No recording, video or photos as far as I’m aware. I was travelling light from Barcelona and have brought a bag full of second editions home with me. Robin was on excellent form and it was good to catch up with @AlSmith and @corpselight with their friends. The audience of about 20 people mostly seemed favourable or at least open to the message although it might have been fun if their had been a few feisty opponents to spar with.
I think Robin’s ppt slides are available from the vicar who was hosting the day. If I get them I will forward them to you.
I’m glad it was good
Could you give a little précis of what was talked about?
Also, I admit to feeling sorry about there only being twenty people … That seems small, even for a xtian conf in the uk.
Here attached you should find Robin’s powerpoint slides for the three sessions (session 4 was question and response). Yes, numbers were low but it was quality rather than quantity I don’t think the event was widely advertised. At least everybody attending seemed to be engaging seriously with the topic. I loved Robin’s new catch phrase - “God didn’t create trash and he will not trash what he creates”. I can use that! He also emphasised how significant the resurrection is to the universalist perspective. I think that is a good sign for us, since the resurrection was also central to the faith and preaching of the NT writers.

Thanks for the power points Drew. In one of them Robin references two quotes about hell, one from a Catholic and another from a Protestant. Do you recall what those were?
The protestant one was the Jonathan Edwards classic ‘Sinners in the hands of an angry God’, the catholic one … I don’t remember the name of the author, but it was part of a catechism for children and involved a child describing the agony of standing on a burning floor in hell. It was truly horrific!
Ok, thanks Drew. Tentmaker has a large list of horrific quotes about Hell. Looked in there to try to find one like the one you described, but couldn’t. I’m familiar with the Edwards quote. Anyone else know what the catholic quote may have been?
Thanks heaps Rev!
That’s frustrating I was also thinking it was probably unfortunately too close to Christmas - when everyone is extra busy preparing for Christmas, getting work projects complete before Christmas, end of year events, etc.
Cool, I’ll definitely tweet that
Amen!
Thanks drew, very helpful
